I am elected official in Panorama City Neighborhood Council for two consecutive terms. I am an Economist, Mathematician, and Statistician, taught mathematics and statistics at Portland Community College and University of Portland.
I speak Arabic, English, Italian, as well as my native Somali language. I am a second generation of educators. I am originated from a well known family of establishing indigenous educational platform in Somalia; my late father was one of the pioneers of Somalia education. He held several positions in Somalia's Ministry of Education including a position equivalent to School Superintendent. He would have been proud of my accomplishments, especially for running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction in the most powerful country in the world. Thus, I am proud and lucky that I got educated here and my children as well.
